- Learn a technique for ASKING intelligent questions.
- Learn positive body language (the old adage “it’s not what you say but how you say it” definitely holds true).
- Don’t dismiss the power of NETWORKING. The other old adage “it’s not what you know but WHO you know” is also super powerful.
- Use a plan or strategy to harness all of the above.
I guarantee if you nail the points above, you’re well on your way to more job offers than you can shake a stick at!
Points 1 & 2 often get quite a lot of push back from people who feel these points are too obvious for serious consideration. But as a recruiter, I get to interview far too many people who are not happy with their careers, and life choices for me not to raise these points. I personally also spent far too long in my early life in jobs I didn’t really enjoy.
As a recruiter I’ve also hired for firms that have no idea of what they’re looking for – even though they’ve produced a detailed job description!
And though it seems unfair to shoulder YOU the job seeker with the responsibility of helping your target employer clarify THEIR thinking. I guarantee this will be worth your effort.
There’s loads of good free information that covers the points above.
