To get a job interview, for any job in any field like IT optic fiber or forensics, you first need to have the resumes noticed by the manager, and this is probably the most difficult thing to do. The whole point in approaching companies in such a manner is to be convincing and please the employer’s eye when he/she reads so that they may want to learn more about you in a face to face meeting. What people forget is that no matter how great the resume template may be, there are many things that can go wrong in resume writing that can alter the results.
Mistakes do happen and some of them are indeed more frequent than others. Although the use of a resume template brings more confidence, details should still be paid attention to, so as to avoid discrediting. Spelling and punctuation mistakes will ruin a good resume, which is why you should never rely on the spell-checker alone.
After implementing the resume template and filling in with your personal data, it is a good idea to show the resume to some friends and ask them to read it out loud. You can thus become aware of the relevancy and accuracy of the document, because if you hear a pause in their reading or if you don’t get everything clear, it means that there must be some confusing structure somewhere in the text. Find it and correct it immediately, because these mistakes cause the failure of your job application.
In the first half of the resume template, after the section of the personal details, write the resume objective or profile. Don’t waste people’s time, and tell them what you have to offer from the very start. This could get you discarded from the very beginning, and it is surely something you have to avoid by all means. Be catchy, and you’ll move one step closer to getting the job!
Responsibilities, not results should become priorities. There should be a section in the resume template that deals with the specifics of every job you’ve had and your responsibilities related to it. This will give a clue to the employer about the value you’ve had for former employers and about the ways you could prove useful in the new company. The more specific you are in this resume section, the better the impression you’ll make on the recruiter or employer!
